Reunion 2012 - 23rd - 25th March
There is just over 2 months to the re-union for those that have attended the previous reunions can testify to an enjoyable weekend. Not only catching up with those people you knew onboard but meeting “Old Shipmates”. An extra bonus this year is a visit to Faslane, anyone who has not been in the base in the last 5 years will be “Gobsmacked” at the changes on the base. I have to emphasise that there is a limit on the numbers allowed to attend the base so get booked soon to prevent disappointment.
The committee have reserved a number of rooms at the hotel to ensure those wishing to attend can. To ensure that the Association does not incur any costs we need to review the quantity of rooms reserved by the end of January. We have the flexibility to have some increases in rooms during February and March however the simple message is the sooner you book ensures your ability to attend.
The general outline is below.
The hotel for the event is the “Beardmore Hotel” located at Dalmuir just outside Clydebank (hotel details at the link below).

The format for the weekend is as for the previous re-unions. An informal meal on the Friday night preceded by the associations AGM, a visit on the Saturday and a formal dinner on the Saturday night. In between times we can consume copious amounts of alcohol and catch up with old friends.
The visit on the Saturday will be to “HMNB CLYDE” for those that wish to attend. Full visit details cannot be confirmed at this time however, some items under consideration are;
A coach tour of the base and a waterfront tour on a tug or police launch. It is hoped a visit to the Resolution Bar where we can have a finger buffet. In addition it is hoped for a visit to a submarine (this is very much dependant on platform availability).
For the ladies or anyone that does not wish to visit the base, the Hotel is a 10 minute walk from Dalmuir railway station (1 minute in a Taxi). Trains leave every 20 minutes to the centre of Glasgow and every 30 minutes to Edinburgh, major shopping opportunities. Clydebank shopping Centre is approx 5 minutes away by train or 10 minutes in a Taxi. In addition the hotel has offered to put pamper packages on for the ladies on the Saturday, it does have a cost however, it might be cheaper than letting them go to Glasgow.
To save anyone asking, the hotel does have Guinness and bar prices are actually quite good for a hotel.
In addition an email address has been set up for anyone wanting to express an interest in attending the Re-union.
